SV JOANA & Pippi Longscrapper
The Crew
Maria (Canada) was born on a boat, molding her into what she is today. She started ocean voyaging at 17 by circumnavigating twice on an old traditional Tall ship. She carried through with her studies and became a Professional Mariner.
Her ocean adventures eventually led her to finding her sailboat Joana. Her curiosity and the drive to help the ocean has led her to working on an Oceanographic Research Vessel, widening her eyes to the endless beauty the ocean has to offer above and below the surface.

Motivation to join the recycling fleet
“The ocean is my motivation, she is my home and birthplace. She shares with me amazing wonders. By joining the fleet, I hope to help create awareness of the overwhelming plastic pollution that is engulfing her. Additionally I find it exciting to create useful and beautiful things out of what once was another man`s trash.”
