Funding & Partnership Manager (Volunteer)
IN MOCEAN is a non profit organization that turns sailors into active contributors to ocean
protection by equipping them with the knowledge, tools and access to support local initiatives.
Together, we create a continuous loop of action that strengthens local efforts, reduces plastic
pollution in coastal areas and advances circular solutions on the ground.
Job Location: remote
Time Commitment: 3-5 hours a week (flexible)
Compensation: unpaid (volunteer role with high impact and visibility)
Start date: immediately
Your Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Funding & Partnerships Manager (Volunteer) to help us unlock the next phase of growth. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will take the lead in building and shaping In Mocean’s funding landscape, from identifying opportunities to securing partnerships that directly enable projects on the ground.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up, takes initiative, and wants to see the direct impact of their work. As part of a small, driven team, you will play a key role in shaping how an international non profit organization funds and scales its impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prioritize a clear funding pipeline (grants, sponsors, donors) aligned with In Mocean’s growth goals
- Secure funding that directly enables recycling hubs, workshops, and local collaborations
- Research, write, and submit funding applications and grant proposals
- Identify and approach mission-aligned brands and companies for long-term partnerships and sponsorships
- Build and maintain meaningful, long-term relationships with donors and partners
Applicant background
- Experience in fundraising, partnerships, grant writing, or impact investing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, proactively, and with ownership
- Passion for ocean conservation, sustainability, or plastic reduction
